Hey y’all so basically what the title says. My landlady has been telling me I have to turn off my A/C in my rented room which I am paying rent for off during the day which was not in our rental agreement at all. I would turn it off because I know it wastes energy but my room is reaching temperatures of 90 degrees and higher almost daily inside the room. I have several cameras and lens for my business and income which cannot be kept in a 90+ and humid environment.
The part that I question is legal is when I told her the room was getting hot and I would be leaving it on. My landlady repeatedly entered my apartment to check on my thermostat to ensure it was off without any warning or prior notice which is required in the rental agreement. She would enter, turn it off and she would text me to tell me that she did and that I need to keep it off. I finally got a camera and have her on video doing it as well as the texts detailing the times she did it before. Is this legal I feel really weird about her just entering and it really is messing with me. Is this something I could break my lease over and try to get my rent back so I can move out? She has done it several times a week up until I got a camera and now she just sends me super passive aggressive texts. What options do I have? She is making it hard to live here. Thanks for any and all advice!

No, she’s not allowed to do that. Are you wanting to break your lease because of it?
It’s probably illegal for her to enter the space you are renting unless your lease says she can – you should definitely contact a lawyer in the area if you want to break your lease or attempt to pursue legal action (seeking back-payment of rent, etc.)
