I’m fuming. We were texting about a dress I was going to wear on my friend’s wedding and about me making bracelets at the moment.
[WARNING, explicit:]
Completely out of context, he sends me a GIF of people jerking each others penis off. Like ??????
I politely mentioned this not being my sort of humor and that I would have preferred not to see genitals without consent. I tried to still keep it cool at this point but his reaction sent me. Besides other red flag statements, he stated I was too sensitive and this was just his type of humor. He almost gaslit me into thinking I was just a too emotional type of woman. When I explained to him that he had triggered memories of unwanted dickpics and therefore made me feel uncomfortable, he acted like that was the most unlogical thing because “it was just a little GIF, not a pic”. After another column of explaining my hurt about the situation, he came up with the cheapest non-pology “sorry you got triggered” but still clearly wanted to make me feel like I’m the crazy one.
I remember having a similar type of friend back in the day who used his “humor” and “just being an honest guy” as an excuse to be disrespectful to people all the time. I am sick of those men not owning up to their hurt caused. Learn some fricking empathy for once
