Labubu is a hot piece of garbage

r/

I think Labubu is one of the ugliest toys to ever be trendy. The fact that it got so popular just goes to show how a buzz trend takes over and people don’t even think about it and just buy it. I am glad the artist got the success but yuck, terrible design.

It’s for kids dude. Why would you care about a kid’s toy.

It’s like a combination of a Furby and the old Quiznos mascot (Spongmonkeys) combination. Creepy.

I don’t have one, but I do think they look cute

It will die soon, maybe with a short rivalry with Baby Three before. They were hot shit in Asia a few months ago and now noone gives a fuck.

It’s not a weird opinion, but it’s weird that you do have an opinion on this

Basically, the shop that sells Labubu is called Pop Mart which is an IP company (This is what they called themselves). They go around acquiring character designs from lesser-known artists/college grads at very low prices.

They then invest heavily in marketing especially using tactics like hunger marketing. Then they did a whole pipeline of creating stories, games, for the character. I actually read Pop Mart’s financial statement a few days ago, and their strategy is surprisingly smart. There are a lot of planning behinds to guarantee those success.. Anyway it is a pretty good company to invest in because of their ability to execute those plans.

Also, the original artist don’t really share the success.

I hate to tell you but this is not as unpopular as you think it is

I had to Google it and never seen it before. There is so much garbage, why get angry about this?

It’s like it’s so ugly it’s cute design. But not the type of uggo that most people would like it.

The worst part is people reselling them, especially the special editions ones, for a criminal mark up. I saw one recently for $800 (AUD).

I think they’re just the new Funko Pops. Little collectibles that don’t have any value outside of the owner enjoying looking at them.

Bubu (as in Bubu and Dudu) > Labubu.

All trends are a hot piece of garbage. But you clearly.dont remember Cabbage Patch Kids, or Garbage Pail Kids, Pogs, pet rocks, or all the other terrible and ugly lads we get every few years.

As things go, a telletubby looking human baby rabbit isn’t anywhere near as bad as a fucking Funko Pop.

    Not unpopular.

Seriously people; educate yourselves on what unpopular means.

They’ll be in landfill soon enough…

Anyone remember Domokun? Same shit. It’ll be gone in a year or two.

I walked by a Pop-Mart store in my city on tuesday (restock day) and I shit you not, there was a line of 40-50 people waiting to cram into this tiny shithole.

Lost a little more faith in our species.

They’re fine for a kids toy. Just don’t go nuts, thinking they’re going to appreciate in value significantly or e even hold their current value once the fad dies off. Remember a year ago when all the insta girls were buying dozens of Stanley cups?
