sorry I don’t know where else to post this.

I’m 17f and my sister is 14f, we live with our mom. we’re the same size but she is more athletic than I am. she has beaten me up before, she would punch me kick me and pull my hair, she tried to push me down the stairs. she threatened to kill me multiple times, she also threatened my friend. she tells me to kill myself. she says horrible things to me and not just that. but more recently she had been taking kitchen knives and holding me up in the corner of the room. she’d press it to my stomach and threaten to stab me. she’s done this multiple times. I’ve told my mom but she doesn’t seem to care, my sister doesn’t face punishment at all. I had an argument with my mom yesterday about this and she said that since my sister gets good grades that she basically doesn’t care what she does. I don’t really know what to do. I plan to move in with my partner next month when I turn 18. I guess I’m just wondering what you would even call this type of behavior? on both her and my mom’s parts. and also if this is even legally punishible if I were to report it? idk I just don’t feel safe in my own house because of her. and idk if it matters since it was a few months ago.
(edit): also I have had my friend on the phone with me while we were arguing and she took my phone from me, then put me in a chokehold and threw me to the ground. I was on FaceTime so my friend saw a bit of the scuffle and heard her threats to kill us both. which were gruesome in detail.

If you’re being held at knifepoint and are being credibly threatened with being stabbed or physical harmed, that’s a crime. You can opt to involve law enforcement when that happens.
Involving law enforcement is not likely to improve your situation at home with your mother, so having plans on what you’re going to do when you turn 18 would be prudent.
