How do you guys handle wearing a work purse/bag? My left shoulder killing me!? It even feels heavier than if I were to pack all my stuff in a backpack. I want to wear a backpack but its so ugly and I feel like a student again lol.
Please let me know I’m not the only one that feels this way. do you guys just get used to it?

What are you carrying in your handbag?
There are many cute backpack options out there:
perhaps something like this bag would be better? (no affiliation just googled it as an example)
edit: or this bag
Babes, just use a backpack and save your shoulder
Idk if you’re carrying a laptop, but if you can get a second charger and not have to carry one back and forth, it can lighten your load considerably! I use a big canvas tote but often offload extras (lunch, jacket) into a second tote. It really depends on your commute needs though. Also, do you have wide straps on your bag? Narrow straps can be way more painful!!
I just have a laptop backpack (Haglöfs Corker Large) and honestly I don’t care about looks. My back is already a bit messed up, so I find comfort more important. Turns out that most of my colleagues think the same and most of us use laptop backpacks.
It will feel heavier because it’s a lot of weight on a smaller strap; when it’s distributed on two wider ones on your shoulders and on your back itself it’s going to feel much more manageable.
I’ve always been a big function over fashion kind of person so I say just wear the backpack. Or, wait until you have a little bit of that big girl job money to spare and find a cute, more stylish backpack!
Get yourself a nice backpack and embrace looking like you care more about your long term spinal health than about your outfit lol. But seriously, look online and you’ll find that backpacks, like anything else, come in so many different styles and fabrics now! You can get something minimalist and sleek, gorgeous patterns, or go for a rich leather that looks like a legit accessory, not a school bag
If you think backpacks are ugly, you’ll hate my suggestion… but a rolley backpack/bag is an alternative if you don’t want to carry anything at all.
I don’t do “purses” I have a laptop bag that’s pretty large
Backpack.
Get a backpack and distribute the weight across both shoulders. Alternatively, get a wheeled bag. Definitely don’t end up with slipped disk so you can carry a work computer back and forth.
They have a lot of great looking backpacks now. This company even makes a work tote that’s convertible. https://www.lafloreparis.com/products/convertible-backpack-purse?tw_source=google&tw_adid=624454953065&tw_campaign=18439729105&tw_kwdid=kwd-812846991824&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=18439729105&gclid=Cj0KCQjw1JjDBhDjARIsABlM2SuxNFj3rGOOGbzT9L6x5z8NQEFrwVAa1HGz8ZpZiC61PiI2HUjxDEgaAsMKEALw_wcB
Lo and sons makes very practical good looking backpacks as well
Work backpack with wheels
There are some very professional looking backpacks! I see them all the time. A messenger bag would even be better than a purse bc it will distribute weight more.
I have this bag in this color. (Purple/gray) https://www.rei.com/product/254435/osprey-parsec-26-pack
It’s got a metal internal frame so it stands up when you set it down. (But not in an obnoxious way.)
Hubs has one in navy. He got his first then I got one.
Shoulder pain is no joke, and neither is a lopsided shoulder. Purses/tote bags are fine for smaller items, but if you’re carrying tech larger than a tablet, it’s time to be practical. There are classy, grown-up backpacks to choose from, or you could even look into something with wheels.
