Feeling scammed by someone selling house.

r/

I recently bought a house and they people selling it were very cooperative for the most part. Problem is, when it came to a sewer inspection they had the area blocked and didn’t want to fix the issue until closing day. On top of that they had their garage packed full of crap and our inspector requested it gets moved so he caj fully inspect the area. We’ll it turns out they never fulfilled this request again until after close. Now I know it’s supposed to be that it’s my fault that I bought the house as it is, but it can’t be legal to hide defects and hope they dont get found.

The sewer issue has just been released that I is severely clogged and might need dug up to he fixed meaning my backyard and neighbors backyard will both need to be destroyed to fix it. I can only assume they knew the house had sewage issues and they didn’t want to let it be found until after the house was sold.

Disclosure of substantial defects in real property is required in my jurisdiction even in an as is sale. Time for a consultation with a real estate attorney.

If they concealed issues on the disclosure form then you may have recourse. Other than that, your option was to not buy the home when they didn’t allow your inspector proper access.
