Noticed a Discrepancy in an NPO’s reported charitable status vs what is presented to the public. Are there any issues with me reaching out to them to ask if they overlooked this? [CO, USA]

I’m currently researching Colorado Nonprofits, and came across an organization identifying as a 501c3 on their website. However, part of my research includes going over the organizations’ 990s and filings, and I noticed that the NPO in question reports to the IRS as a 501c6. To my understanding, this is not something the IRS likes.

I want to send them an email giving them a heads-up that they’re improperly identifying, as they seem like a small team and I can see how this could potentially be little more than a negligent oversight, but I don’t want to misstep and I’m unsure of how acceptable this is. Can there be any consequences for me reaching out and giving them the benefit of the doubt?
