To make the backstory short, husband of 12 years left in September 2024. I was fighting for disability at the time (nearly 3 years now). He’s been paying the mortgage minus what our room tenant pays. No, we are not legally separated or in the process of divorce. I pay utilities and my phone and my own living expenses. I’m scrambling for a job (currently DoorDash, but it doesn’t pay much). No chance of reconciliation. Both of our names are on the deed.
In late June, he threatened to immediately stop paying the mortgage, take me off his insurance, and remove me from the phone plan if I didn’t sign paperwork to sell the house. Having no money to take over the mortgage, I was forced to sign it. He then said it was ‘for the best’ and that he’s ‘just trying his best to protect me’ for after the divorce. The amount would be approximately $100,000 after taxes. He is tired of paying for anything related to me.
How can I best protect myself until I get a job that will cover the mortgage and to buy him out? Is there anything I can do, legally? I don’t have money for a lawyer.

I’m not a lawyer but know someone experienced something similar over a husband and wife business. There was no lawyer to explain the paperwork to her and the court felt that he was taking advantage of the situation. The judge said that the business belonged to them 50/50 even tho she signed it over to him. Please seek a lawyer no matter how difficult. He will only cheat and take everything if you don’t have representation. If the house was purchased during marriage that’s a plus too. Good luck
