My husband has an exact use for every pocket (keys pocket, wallet pocket, etc.) that never changes and he gets so confused if they ever end up in the wrong pocket, or if they ever get put down somewhere he struggles to find them. He claims that all men have a pocket system, is this true? Because this is a weird piece of man trivia that I did not know if so.
Edit: so many answers so quickly confirming this is blowing my mind. I only found this out because I said to my husband he should stop carrying his wallet in back back pocket to avoid getting pickpocketed, and I got a whole explanation on how this system definitely can’t change now

Keys and wallet in the front left, phone in the front right. Back pockets are auxiliary pockets and change depending on the situation
Wallet in left pocket. Phone and keys in right pocket.
That’s pretty much all we carry too.
Yes, that is true
It’s somewhat true, at least for me. Non-car keys go in the right front, wallet in the right rear, car key/fob in the left front, phone in the left rear.
If I absentmindedly put my car key in the wrong pocket I’ll be confused and have to think about where it is for a second because it’s not where I expected to find it.
True for me. Makes us pack fast and not forget anything. If it’s not there then something is missing.
Front right pocket is keys, change and sometimes handkerchief. Front left is phone. Back right is wallet even though it is bad for my back.
Yes, I keep my keys, wallet, and phone each in a specific place. If I don’t feel them there, I know instantly, and I make sure I find where they are before I go anywhere.
Yes. For me, right pocket – phone and soft things. Left pocket – keys, wallet, sharp or hard things.
Mini wallet and earphones case in front left. Phone front right. Keyes klipped to belt loop. Nothing in back pockets except half used paper tissue.
I use keys with my right hand so my keys end up in my right hip pocket.
My phone or wallet are in my right hand so they go in my left breast pocket and if that pocket is full my right breast pocket.
Yes, it is true because it makes sense, which is why you are confused.
Yeah…you got a system for your purse, right?
We organise by comfort and accessibility
Left:
-Keys
-cigarettes
-lighter
Right:
I used to have a wallet phone case on my iPhone 10 for forever. I got the 15 when it came out (I’ve had a 5, an X, now the 15. Figure I’ll wait for 20 again) and I have not regained/ recovered my wallet situation. So:
-phone
-waterproof zipper wallet I keep 2-3 cards in + an unknown amount of cash I somehow acquire
It is very true.
I also have a purse I use sometimes. I call it my purse because I find it funny men are afraid of carrying bags.
100% true for me. Your husband is a good man haha
Phone front left, keys front right, wallet rear right.
Yes, very true!
Left front pocket- cellphone
Right front pocket- wallet (includes multitool, flashlight, knife, all cards, cash, and pool fob), key w/flashlight, and peanuts (for feeding crows and squirrels)
Right rear pocket- bandanna
I use my phone and key with my right hand so they are in the right pocket. Wallet is in the left one, it can easily be flicked open when I pick it up, to then use my right hand to take out whatever I need from there.
Oar…gun…eyes?
Is that some kind of food? Pockets are for whatever I shove in there at the time.
Sounds like he has ADHD or OCD or both. I do the same shit but I’m literally the only one I know who does. Guess what else I got?
Left front – keys, right front – change, left rear – wallet, right rear – phone
Front left: Cell phone.
Front right: keys and chapstick
Back left: wallet
If I’m wearing shorts with no rear pockets, the wallet shifts from the back left to the front left and hangs with the phone. You cannot throw off the system!
Phone front right. Keys, nasal inhaler and headphones front left. Wallet back right. Back Left is empty/auxiliary.
Yes completely true wallet and phone right pocket, keys left pocket.
Wallet in back right, phone in front right, cigarettes and lighter in front left. I rarely carry cash and never carry house keys but they would probably end up in the front left.
Wallet in right, phone in left, and my secret trick: keys IN wallet
Yes, plus cargo pants pockets for extra storage capacity.
Phone front left, wallet back right, keys and anything else front right.
Can’t remember the last time I used the back left pocket for anything.
Yes, everything has its place.
Phone and tissues right front, wallet and keys left front.
If I end up with loose change it goes in one back pocket, if I end up with some receipt or other paper it goes into the other back pocket. Those get emptied as soon as I get home, it’s temporary storage only as it compromises comfort while sitting.
Phone in the front left, chapstick and sometimes wallet in the front right. I don’t carry keys.
wallet/money on the left, phone on the right, handkerchief/small towel on back right (cos I sweat a lot), a black hole on back left because I never use it
Phone in front left. Kerchief and keys front right. Wallet back right
I just prefer to be efficient and not waste my time looking for things. By nurturing habits you end up doing menial tasks faster too like unlocking the door. I know where everything is in my place and same for my pockets. Cardholder in back left, phone front left and keys front right. I go without my cardholder as much as possible or just a few cards I can add to the keys but with the whole CH it’s just too big for both in one pocket.
Key fob, wallet & chapstick in my right pocket. Phone in my left pocket.
Car keys hang from back right belt loop into back right pocket, because ignition is on the right side of the car.
Wallet in back left pocket so I remove and hold the wallet with my left and take money/cards out with right hand.
Phone goes in front right.
Front left is free for miscellaneous as the situation requires.
Yes. And there’s A serious issue when things are not in place. Also: don’t touch my stuff.
Keys on the back right belt loop. Placed in back right pocket if they jingle too much. Phone in front left. Wallet in front right and lighter in front right coin pocket as well as small pocket knife. I don’t always have the lighter with me (I don’t smoke). But I generally do because it’s handy.
Of course! Much better than how women dump everything into their large sacks and then can’t find a damn thing when needed
I switched off the pockets, but I used to have wallet back left, phone front left, extras on the right side. Now i have everything on 1 lanyard, then phone wherever.
Here are the rules I always follow: Wallet in the back right, phone in the back left, keys in the front right, Vape and Vape juice in the front left, order never changes, if I have change it goes in the front right.
Left front pocket houses my change, writing utensils for work, a six sided die, and spare hair ties. Right front pocket holds my phone, keys, and pocket knife. The little pocket above that has my virtual pet and a broken hair tie with two safety pins for emergencies. Left back pocket has my wallet and comb, and right back has a box knife for work. Basically, everything is where it’s most needed to use well with my right hand, except the pens and box knife that go in the pockets of my apron at work, and the die which is just there to fidget with.
Keys and Multitool in RF. Chewing Gum and Phone in LF. Wallet in RB. Always.
I do a “pocket pat-down” before I go anywhere – even from room to room sometimes.
This leads to problems when I fly, for example, and have to leave my multi-tool at home. Near panic when I’m on vacation and do the pocket pat-down and something is not there.
Wallet always left, phone and keys always right
So I know where everything is and I can easily check I haven’t left anything behind
Nice trip, pick-pockets anonymous.
