Being productive and how period influences that

r/

I’m a uni student. In the 10-7 days before my period I find it absolutely impossible to study or do anything productive. It’s like there’s a physical barrier in my brain that makes me unable to do it. Yeah, I can sit down and try, but it takes like the whole day to force me to focus for an hour at best.

Then my period arrives, I’m in pain/uncomfortable for the first and second day and then, gradually, my productivity comes back and it’s like I’m a completely different person, managing to reach my usual 5 hours. I do struggle with studying in general, I’m building back up my studying hours, but it’s almost impossible in that time frame before my period.

And then of course the cycle repeats again, my period is really regular.
It’s not sustainable. It’s fully a mental thing, I’m also easily stressed and anxious, with depressive-like symptoms in the 10-7 days before my period. I’ve always heard that those happen usually after, if it were something, so I don’t know how to explain it.

Does it happen to anyone else? How did you fix it? Or what does help in these cases?
