I work for a security company in Texas and I lost my only source of transportation. When I told my boss he threatened to reduce my check to minimum wage if I at least don’t finish the weekend. Heres his exact text:
“[my name],
I understand where you are coming from, but just not showing up anymore is unprofessional behavior and will lead to having your paycheck busted to minimum wage since you are not fulfilling your obligations with us as promised.
Please reconsider that decision, if you can at least just cover this weekend I would really appreciate it and I won’t bust your check.
Let me know “

It’s Texas, ripping off employees is not only legal but encouraged.
Actually, I am partially kidding, it is illegal but it is encouraged.
Nope. You had a legally binding prior agreement that can either be honored by choice or the courts can force your employer to honor it.
As a side note I would recommend getting an uber or taking a bus or riding your bike in order to keep your job but I would also recommend finding a new job hopefully without a boss who is crooked.
