Am I (26F) overreacting by being ticked off/put off by my bf (27M) worrying I’ll bleed on his bed?

r/

My boyfriend and I have been together for about a year and a half, and for most of that time we have slept in separate rooms at his place (that’s different reasoning aside and not a problem in itself). Recently, he’s suggested we attempt to start sleeping in his bed together nightly. We have very different sleep routines and such, and have been figuring out the little differences.

Tonight, I realized too little too late (after stores had closed) that I forgot to bring my bag with my tampons in it and that I am out of tampons here. I am at the end of my period, so bleeding is very very minimal (which I told him). Still, he got new sheets recently so I am sleeping with a towel under me just in case.

I went to shower while he laid down. When I finished and came in to come to bed, he had taken the comforter off of his bed and was just sleeping underneath the sheet. When I asked if I could bring it back in the bed (confused why it was off of the bed) he said “Yeah just don’t bleed on it.” I didn’t say anything in the moment, but now I’m laying here kind of ticked off while he sleeps. I feel like if I DID ever accidentally bleed on his bed, then he’d be pissed. If you’re in a relationship with someone who menstruates, then it is a matter of WHEN not IF they are going to bleed the bed.

Am I being over the top by thinking this way and being annoyed? It’s to the point that I’m going to have to bring it up in the morning.

If you are a mature guy you know it’s just part of life and living with someone who has periods

I’m in my 30s and have never “bled the bed”… underwear sure but never through to the bed. So I am quite surprised of the phrasing of “WHEN not IF”

That to say, periods are unique to each person. If I had bought new sheets, I would not want to get blood on them. If I thought there was a concern of me getting blood on my comforter, then I would probably switch out to my least favorite one. If you are saying his concerns are totally valid then I really don’t think your reaction is appropriate. Probably just you feeling a bit embarrassed and vulnerable at having made the mistake of forgetting your bag.

But if they are not super valid concerns then hit him with “I’ve had around 200 periods in my life and it has never been an issue” Because it sounds like this might be one of HIS first times dealing with this, it might put it into perspective for him.

…You also should not sleep in tampons. Or wear them when your flow is really light.

    Kick him to the curb.

So HE wants you two to start sleeping in the same bed but can’t take the proper precautions like going out and buying a mattress protector and dark sheets just in case something like this were to happen? But can make a passive aggressive comment about something you have no control over……yeah I’d definitely feel some type of way about it.

And I’d be sleeping in the other room. NOR
