My dads wife whistled at me?

r/

Yesterday (July 4th) my dads wife (44) did the cat call whistle on me. I was walking out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around me. My room is not even 2 steps out of the bathroom.

Today. I went to tell my dad about how it made me feel. He told me that the timing was wrong. I explained that theres no “good time” for her to do that. He then asked why I was walking out in a towel. I told him “I always have” (because again, its 2 steps away?) He proceeded to tell me that I need to wear a robe from now on if I keep walking out in a towel. I asked him what the difference was. He said and i quote “it covers more”

I am absolutely going to talk to my therapist on Wednesday about what do to. But I would like some advice on how to currently deal with this situation. Thank you in advance!

To add; my dad wife likes to make sexually suggestive comments to my dad when I am around.

do not tap your dads wife junior, if that’s what you’re asking.

Seeing as you are so bothered by the experience, it would be prudent to follow your dad’s advice.

More contextual information would be good. About all we can guess is this is your stepmother.

    Info needed:

    How old are you?
How long has your dad’s wife lived with you?

Talk to your stepmom about it. Sometimes having a direct conversation is all that’s needed to clear the air. Make sure she knows it made you feel uncomfortable, and don’t hook up with her if she comes onto you.

Maybe she was joking. Maybe she wasn’t. Either way it was inappropriate. Tell her it makes you uncomfortable when she makes those comments and cover yourself up like your Dad said.

Got it. When it was just you and your dad, no modesty was required. When there are members of the household of opposite sex, modesty is absolutely necessary. Why? To avoid sexualizing children and unrelated adults. Also it’s respectful of the other person’s privacy and dignity.

It’s unfortunate your stepmom decided to embarrass you by whistling. Very disrespectful of her. Do as your father suggests and wear a robe. Hopefully, your stepmom isn’t coming onto you or exposing herself to you. That would be totally inappropriate.

Of course discuss this issue with your therapist. The solution may be very simple and something you can live with.
