I’m a college student living in a dorm with three roommates and there’s basically never a moment when the room is empty. Someone is always around, day or night.
The bathrooms are communal and honestly pretty gross. I’ve thought about trying there, but it feels awkward and unhygienic. I lose all motivation as soon as I step inside.
It might sound silly, but the lack of privacy is starting to get to me. I just want a little time to myself to relax and take care of my own needs without feeling weird or stressed out.
Has anyone else dealt with this? How do you manage something so basic when you’re living in such a shared space? Any advice would help.

That’s a tough situation. If it’s summer can you go out for a nice hike into a forest where you chances of meeting anyone are basically zilch? It would be a fun adventure.
Perhaps tell a friend or trusted fellow student on campus, maybe someone without many roommates who’ll let you hang there alone sometime. You could even state your issue as something like “I just need to be alone and watch a movie/chill alone once in a while without roommates around” and see what the person offers.

Honestly, I’d just bring it up to them. Work out a privacy schedule and code. You don’t necessarily have to say you wanna jerk it, just say you want some time to yourself more often.
