What legal action can I take against my management company?

Location: Minnesota

Hello everyone, i need some advice.

I live in Minnesota like I mentioned earlier. Myself and my roommates are all colleges students and we are running into issues with our renting company. The owner of the home the company is managing is trying to sell it. No big deal, however. We are not being notified by anyone about any showing for our property.

The first person who came in the home said she “thought it was vacant.”

The next showing we unknowingly had, my roommate had come home to 3 random men in our home. Who introduced themselves as investors. So thats when I pulled the plug. We are all women, and coming home to 3 random people in the home is not okay.

I left them a voice mail during their off hours, and called back again during the week because I never heard back, I was told “the person you are trying to contact knows about your requests, however she is not in office.” This was several weeks ago.

Today we had a showing. Thankfully I was home. I talked with the investors. Explained the situation, I was not upset with them, and I got the persons contact info that I need to discuss this HUGE problem.

So I need to know if we take legal action, what I can expect out of it. It’s not only required by Minnesota Law (the investors even said so), but its also required in our lease.

I did leave another angry voicemail to the Company explaining the situation yet again. And asking if we can get a months off rent for all of us for this issue. Its distressing to all of us. And ngl im not quite sure what I can and cannot demand from them.

Thank you for the help
