Am I (M19) allowed to feel this way about this girl (F22)?

r/

I like this girl but she’s three years older than me. We’ve talked a lot and she’s kinda served as a mentor to me atp and I’ve developed feelings for her since I admire her qualities and perseverance; she seems like she has everything figured out and is intentional with everything she does. The issue is the age gap. Right now is not an appropriate time both legally and socially, but how easy is it to be with someone when there’s an age gap of three years? I fear she may move on and find someone else, and even if that’s true, I know that it just wasn’t the right time. How do I overcome harboring feelings for someone when I know it’s highly unlikely for anything to happen, and even if it did, I’d have to wait maybe two or three years time in which anything can happen?

TL;DR

– This girl is three years older than me and idk if that’s okay.

– I worry she may find someone else in the next few years while I wait for the age gap to be less of an issue, but I can’t control that. How do I move on while keeping this door open for a potential relationship?

– When is it okay to pursue someone, like committing to dropping everything and going to move to their hometown or whatnot?

Shoot your shot! If she’s into it, excellent. If not, you tried. There is unlikely to be a better time. She’s close to your age, so just act like you’re the same age. Don’t make a bigger deal of the gap than it is.
