I have a 1979 MG Midget (Small, Convertible, British Car). I took it to a local shop who specialize in European vehicles. It has now been in and out of their shop for over 2 years.
First Drop Off: 04/04/23-06/03/23
Second Drop Off: 07/15/23-02/26/24
Third Drop Off: 02/26/24-03/30/24
I then brought it back to my house out of frustration, and let it sit for a couple of months trying to figure out what to do. Do I take it back there, or am I just throwing good money after bad? I finally decide to take it to a different local repair shop. They evaluate it and tell me that the first shop has messed this up, there is definitely something wrong with the head, and the first shop should be the ones to fix their mistakes. So I take it back to the first shop, begging them to please fix the car, and make this right as this is the fourth time I have had to take it to them.
Fourth Drop Off: 08/24/24-Present
I’ve reached out to them numerous times and they either apologize for the delay (being on vacation, sick, etc) or assure me that they are “almost done.” At this point I just want the car back and I’m tired of wasting money on a shop that seems unable to fix the car.
Am I able to sue them to get my money back? “Cutting my losses” seems to let them off far too easily for the amount of frustration and ineptitude that I am experiencing.
