My manager has been selling food from the food bank.

r/

The manager at my pub has been going to the food bank, collecting all the free food they can, and then using it and selling in the food we serve at our pub. I see this as incredibly wrong, not only because it’s taking food from families who need it, but also because the food is out of date and of terrible quality by the time it is sold here. I see my only two options to be either to get them to stop or to quit. What would be the best way to broach the subject with them without getting myself fired. (Based in the UK)

Contact the food bank and tell them what has been happening.

That’s really messed up you’re right to feel uneasy. If you want to say something, keep it calm but clear: ask your manager privately if they know this is wrong and how it could get the pub in trouble. If they blow you off, you could report it to the owner or local council because it’s not just shady, it could be illegal and unsafe. And if it doesn’t change, trust your gut you shouldn’t have to stay somewhere that does stuff like this.
