Back in about October of last year, I (21 FtM) had my first appointment at my OBGYN. They called me the day before my appointment to confirm it. I did, and double checked with them on if they accepted my insurance at the time, which was Medicaid. They said yes, they did, and so I went.
At the appointment, the doctor missed that I had a cyst on my right ovary, even after I complained about tenderness on my side when he pressed on it, said I probably just pulled a muscle, and to not worry about it. Not even a week later, the cyst rupture.
I was taken to the hospital, and they were able to give me some pain meds and sent me on my way. No drainage like I had been told they would do due to the size of it, and sent home.
A month later in November, I got a bill from the OBGYN’s clinic. My mom doubled checked with them they took Medicaid, and they said they did. We checked with Medicaid, and they said they had handled it. It is now over 9 months, and we keep getting a bill. We’ve checked each time, told them about the bill, and they keep saying it’ll be handled, but it keeps coming.
I’m so tired of it, and I just need advice. I don’t want this to potentially get my in trouble later down the line because of this. Should I just pay it? Will they stop then? The hospital I went to never billed me cause the insurance took care of it, and my medication too, so why can’t they just get the clinic dealt with?
Any and all advice is very much helpful, thank you.
