Something I’ve been working on in therapy is trying to be kinder to myself and give myself more grace. I am not good at it and I want to know, what strategies do you guys use to give yourself compassion and grace?

Imagine you’re in that therapy space. Feel the cushion of the chair. The threads of the armrest. The smell of coffee. The smell of the room. But instead of your therapist sitting there across from you. Imagine it’s you sitting across from you. Have the conversation with yourself. I do this sometimes anywhere between every thirty minutes to maybe every other day. It’s very helpful for me. Best wishes to you in your therapy. Kudos for working on yourself.
I journal to myself as if I were my older sister or a loving aunt. It felt corny at first but it helped a lot because it forces me to see myself without the self-hatred lenses, because I don’t talk to others as poorly as I talk to myself, so I “other” myself
