So my friend recently told me that I’m the only man he knows who doesn’t sleep fully clothed (idk how he knows what all other men in his life sleep in but ok), and I obviously told him that that’s ridiculous, so many people prefer to sleep wearing less than he does.
This basically started because we were having the weekend away with a group of friends, but some of us had to share a bedroom because there weren’t enough for all of us. So, we were going to bed on the first night, I was sorting my things out, and as Im getting undressed (I sleep in just shorts, no shirt or underwear), he starts shouting at me, telling me it’s gross that I’m going to sleep “basically naked” (he might have been thinking this because it’s not my house (we were staying a lodge), but I’ve stayed here multiple times and have never had an issue with cleanliness, which I told him but he was having none of it) and starts getting really uncomfortable, talking about how he’s never met someone who sleeps like that. Now, it’s not like he’s never seen me naked before, and we’ve known each other for 4 or 5 years now, but this has never come up in a conversation before.
We’re both very stubborn and hate admitting that we’re wrong, but I have to know what the consensus is. What do you sleep in, and do you find it weird to wear what I do to bed?

Briefs only most of the time, sometimes a very light shirt during the winter.
Summer = boxers or naked (naked one is my and my wife’s “if you wake up middle of the night, start having sex with the other person” rule).
Winter = Boxers + Tshirt.
Sleeping in clothes means you’re doing more laundry, which is going to ruin the clothes faster. And for people who say “you’re just sleeping, you don’t need to wash them”, I would kindly ask you to never fucking touch me because that is gross lol.

I have slept butt ass naked since I was 12 years old. Both of my sons (18 and 11) both have slept that way since childhood because I did and they followed after me.
My best friends both sleep naked as well. There is nothing wrong with it. Your friends seems uptight over nothing really. I can see if yoj was waving around your dick in his face but simple non sexual nudity the world is too uptight about

Just shorts if sleeping inside, possible sweatpants and a t-shirt at most if camping and sleeping in a tent – where it’s cold enough for that to be be more comfortable. Done a bunch of guy trips for football games, golf, hunting, fishing, etc. most guys sleep just in boxers some guys in shorts and a t-shirt. If it helps for a data point, my brother sleeps naked when he’s at home, but I’ve noticed he wears boxers when he’s in a group setting like a guys trip, if he has his own room though, he’s probably going birthday suit.

But, to answer your question, it depends. Assuming it’s hot as hell, I sleep naked unless I share a room with someone who isn’t my partner.
Otherwise depending on the temperature, a combo of underwear only or underwear + pajamas (sometimes a tshirt only for upper body and pajama pants below)

In your specific situation your friend is overreacting a little, however, its common courtesy to put on some clothes if you’re sharing a bed with a non-partner.

I did experiment with sleeping naked for a year but I prefer just boxer briefs. I find if I am trying to sleep on a seam in the clothes, it annoys me and I can’t sleep. I also get overheated very easily so the less clothing, the better.
I sleep in my boxers… yeah it’s a bit awkward if you’re sleeping with the bros, but most of them sleep in their boxers too (although one guy sleeps naked even amongst friends as we found out when one of the boys jumped in his bed as he thought it would be funny if he woke up with him there but yeah that kinda backfired lol)

I think most guys sleep naked or in their underwear. Some guys may wear sleep shorts with no underwear and a T-shirt. It just sounds like your friend was raised in a household where being fully clothed at bedtime was required. I think he is not the norm for the majority of guys. I do not see what the big deal is with you not wearing a T-shirt. Both of you are guys.

Depends on different factors, but usually a t-shirt and my my boxers. If it’s warmer, I’ll remove the t-shirt and just wear boxers. If it’s colder and I know the blankets won’t cut it, I’ve been known to crawl into bed with a hoodie, sweatpants, and socks.
Pyjamas, shorts only if it’s too hot naked when I can’t be bothered.
Basketball shorts. I like my boys to breathe, I feel like I’m keeping the sheets cleaner for longer, and if I have to “check on that noise” at 2am I’m not scrambling for clothes in the dark.

Tshirt and shorts is usually my sleepwear. In the winter I’ll wear athletic joggers that I have. But mostly it’s basketball shorts and a tshirt.
Usually just in underwear unless it’s very cold in the house, but that just means putting a loose shirt on. I like sleeping naked, but my kids are at the age that they’ll get in bed with us on occasion, and I don’t think it’s appropriate to be naked with them. I have a few pair of sleep shorts that don’t have a fly on the front and feel better for sleeping in and lounging around the house in.

Before I had kids I slept naked. Once my kids were at a certain age I just wore boxer shorts and still do 20 years later. I couldn’t imagine sleeping in pajamas or clothes on a regular basis. I’m currently sleeping in a leather recliner after surgery and I’m wearing shorts and a T-shirt so I don’t stick to the leather but it’s hot as balls and uncomfortable.
