I work in a niche entertainment industry as an analyst. Most people in the industry use one vendor who notoriously provides difficult data and reporting.
I set up reporting on that vendor for my org, and one of my colleagues mentioned it to someone at business B. Now a representative from business B has reached out to me asking me to consult with them and teach their analytics team to build their own version of my reports.
I would not be sharing any specific knowledge about my current company, just sharing information about how that vendor’s data storage works.
I checked my contract and I don’t have an NDA or a noncompete.
As a follow up, if I am required to inform them, are they allowed to tell me “no, we’ll fire you if you do it”?

You’re not legally required to tell them if you don’t have a contract in place. They, in turn, are not legally required to continue employing you if they don’t like you helping their competitor(?).

Yep. They could also (legally) fire you if you don’t do it. They can fire you if you tell them, they can fire you if you don’t tell them.
Just be quiet.
If you’re not doing anything unethical or violating a contract, it’s none of their business.
