I have clothing I bought in thrift stores 15 years ago. I have hand-me-downs from my mother and grandmother that are 30+ years old, and as a thrifter many of my favorite pieces date to the 80s or 90s. It’s better for the environment, and I love wearing the same pieces over the years. When I wear a shawl or sweater from my grandmother I feel connected to her across time and space, particularly now that she’s passed on.
I just threw away my 1940’s WWII style bomber jacket that was likely from before the 1980’s, I was gifted to me from my Great-Uncle. Unfortunately it was in a closet for ~20 years, since it no longer fit, and got destroyed by mold.
But also I have t-shirts that are over 10 that I still wear. Most of my pants/shorts only last about 3, always ripping them on something.
I’ve still got stuff from 15-20 years ago I still wear. My favorite pair of jeans (from 2003? ish?) gave up the ghost a couple months ago and I straight up mourned.
I have a Boy’s State shirt from around 15 years ago. I think I have at least a couple of shirts from high school. Fortunately, I’m smaller than I was then.
I have clothes I’ve been wearing for 20+ years. One specific pair of uncut cords from J.Crew are also my main winter pants (were talking worn AND WASHED 3-4 times a week every week from sept-may) which are barely worn looking. They were like $40.
My grandfather died thirty years ago. I still have the shirt I was wearing in the last photograph I took with him. It has many, many holes, but I’m keeping it. My father was in the photo too.
I have clothes from 18 – 20 years ago I still use. I have clothes bought for me by my ex-mother in law… I have been divorced for 14 years. I don’t throw any clothes unless they break.
I still have a sweater I’ve had since high school (i graduated hs 32 years ago). Somehow it still fits, but i think it’s because it was a couple sizes too big for me then and stretched a bit along the way
I have shoes from high school and college that I still wear. I’m in my mid-40s. I love vintage stuff, so I have a pair of earrings from the early 1930s, I have my spouses’ grandma’s hats and furs from the 1950s, etc.
I still have clothes from my HS and college years. I also love shopping second hand. These older clothes last so much longer than any newer and cheaper clothes I have bought.
I have a nightgown I’ve been wearing at least once a week since I was 8. I’m 30 now. It is faded and thin but no holes. It was like $9 at Walmart. They don’t make em like they used to…
I still have and wear a jacket that I’ve had since I was 13 (I’m 47, lol). I have a number of clothes that are older than a decade- I like to hang onto clothes that I love and are still in good condition and still fit.
I have dresses (that still fit) from when I was ~19 (I’m 46 now). At this moment in time I’m kicking myself for not keeping more regular clothes (aka not dresses) because now they’re back in style lol
I’m 38 and I still have- and wear- a tshirt that I got when I was under 7 years old (95?). It was really big on me back then- like a dress.. and now, it’s short length wise but width wise, it’s stretched out. I can’t let it go lol it’s a night shirt now.
Also wear an American eagle (?) long sleeve shirt. Got that back in 2001 bc it reminded me of the shirts the motorcross people wear and I had to have it!
Not clothes but when i was 2, my parents got a hello kitty wrap towel thing. I vaguely remember using it back then but I’ve turned it into a pillow case that I keep in my car- towel and pillow in one basically lol.. so that’s was back in 1990…? I just know we were in Japan and we moved from there when I was 2/3 years old
I have a Rolling Stones concert shirt from Munich in 1982. I haven’t worn it much the last 20 years bc it’s as much of a “holy shit you’re old” announcement as anything lol

Also have a shirt that I used to wear all the time in high school (30 years ago) that belonged to my dad in the 70s.

I generally avoid buying trendy clothing so it doesn’t go out of style.
I have a jumper from 1986. I’m 55yrs old. It’s a Piping Hot surf brand knitted jumper.

I’m currently rocking my ratty sweatshirt I got at Kohl’s on clearance in 2012.
Me. I have nasty house clothes that I beat to shit.
By my nice clothes I’m careful with, and I wash on cold delicate and hang dry.
My comfiest knickers are size 11-12 years, they’ve grown with me because my bum is, although flat, definitely not 11-12 years

Some of the clothes I bought 20 years ago in high school have lasted much longer than things I’ve bought more recently
I have a jacket my dad used to wear before he met my mother. I’d say that was around 1950. I broke the zipper but still take it out once in a while.
I have my high school pep band shirt from 1999 when I was drum major. It almost fits again and then I will wear it until it falls apart.

I am 60 years old and have clothes and accessories from high school (1980-1983) and college (1984-1987). Because I am still punk as fuck.
People don’t keep their clothes for years? I don’t think I’ve bought anything in a year
