Crummy lawyer

In May of 2024 I sustained a back and knee injury that had severely impaired my ability to work or even stand for long periods. After an initial diagnosis of an si joint issue I was sent to get an mri on my knee which confirmed a torn acl. My follow up with my initial doctor was canceled and I was sent immediately to a different physician.

This new doctor dismissed the previous doctors diagnosis of an si joint (it absolutely is) and said I “just had a bad back now, lots of people deal with it everyday. You just need to lose weight ” . He said my knee had too much arthritis to be fixed. I asked him what my work limitations should be and he said he wasn’t qualified to say and would send me to an occupational therapist. This was July 2024

I sent multiple emails to my insurer and asked for an appointment with the occupational therapist as well as a second opinion as I was dissatisfied with the diagnosis. They ghosted me.

After a month I went to a lawyer. He seemed great and interviewed me thoroughly, had me fill out a bunch of questionnaires as well. Said he was going to get me the care I needed and deserved.

His communication was terrible. I’m guessing his main legal aid left because the main form of communication was texting which they suddenly stopped replying to. The next lady preferred email, which she quit replying to. So I began calling every month or so until this April when a young lady rudely said they were still waiting on the judge and I could quit calling, they would let me know of any updates.

I finally called last week at the risk of pissing them off only to find that the judge ordered a medical exam with a local independent doctor
Over a month ago. Not only that they still couldn’t help because the lawyer was out of town all week. They assured me he would call first thing this week. Two days down and still no reply.

Is this normal? Can I switch lawyers at this point? Should I?
