Global Entry Revoked after paying a fine at US/Canada border, was told it would not affect Global Entry at all. Help?

Location: NY border coming from Canada

I am not sure where else to ask this question, and am currently struggling to contact anyone in CBP. I was also not sure what to flair this so I apologize if it’s incorrect.

A very stupid and expensive lesson was learned last week coming back into the US from a trip to Canada. We drove, and I truly did not think to deep clean my vehicle, because I do not regularly smoke or purchase marijuana. Long story short, An EMPTY (perhaps CRUMBS) bag of marijuana from NJ was found in my car after they pulled us over for a random search – I have no idea where it actually came from, whose it actually was, etc., but that doesn’t matter at this point.

Sitting in CBP absolutely beside myself, I ran through a whole host of things that could happen in that moment. Thankfully, the only outcome was to pay a fine. I was told specifically that this would NOT affect my global entry status, or anything else, and that I’d really only be on a more highly scrutinized list for ~ a year. Fine. Absolutely a stupid mistake, I am fine being pulled over more often for checks if that’s all that happens.

Today, however, I received an email that my global entry was, in fact, revoked. It states online that you can reapply and/or have the status reevaluated.

My questions is – how incorrect was the border patrol officer? Am I completely screwed forever because of this? Is it possible to reapply? Will this affect my TSA precheck and my passport in general, like not being able to travel outside the US at all? I’m very lost.

Zero information was given to me, and the only documentation I have of anything is a receipt for the fine that was paid.

Importing marijuana illegally into the country…… embrace your fine and be happy about it. That CBP officer may have no idea but will now about you losing your status.

Was your pre from GE or is that separate?

Clearly the agent was wrong, but it doesn’t matter what they say because they have nothing to do with the GE program. Importing drugs into the US (which is how CBP pretty much sees your situation) is 1000% grounds to terminate your GE. Sure you can reapply but I doubt you will get approved as this will be on your record.

As far as your Precheck and Passport, Passport will be fine though, as he said, be prepared to be screened upon entry more often than not. Precheck I have no idea
