I recently resigned from a non profit that was not running according to bylaws. Because I resigned the person who has appointed themselves in charge of the Board has now decided to defame and slander me in order to make themselves look better. I took on many positions and roles to help a bad mismanaged organization get back on its feet, positions that it was known I was not qualified for but that I did to the best of my abilities. Now I am set to receive certified mail from this person. I don’t want the mail, it’s not a legal document it’s just threats and more slander from this particular person because they did not like that I submitted a motorized resignation letter. I left in a very professional manner and turned over everything associated with the organization in a matter of hours. Is there anything that I should do to protect myself?

NAL- but you might consider retaining one. A cease and desist is a small start- don’t need a lawyer for that necessarily, but you do need one if they choose not to cease or desist
>defame and slander me in order to make themselves look better.
What are they saying? Are they accusing you of any specific crime, or sharing a negative opinion on your work?
>motorized resignation letter.
Thank your autocorrection for a chuckle I really needed today.
