My mom passed away in 2020 and we still haven’t received her estate.

Location: Austin Texas, I don’t know what flair to use as my mom didn’t have a will. But she did have a substantial amount of money in her retirement account. At first we were told about the money and we understood it would take a while since lawyers had to confirm that we were actually her kids and if she had unpaid debt or secret kids we didn’t know about, etc etc. Year by year went by and me and my siblings have been waiting patiently. Now after 5 ish years, we are wondering if it’s supposed to be taking this long? We had one lawyer before and then another lawyer took over our case and since, it’s like we are being ghosted by the lawyer? My brother hasn’t heard anything from him and we don’t know when to expect this money. It’s been really long and i don’t wanna seem like I only care about the money. But I feel like I can’t fully move on from my mom passing until everything legally is over and dealt with. If anyone has any advice on what we should do or if it’s supposed to take this long I’d really appreciate it.
