Dealership used my insurance i already had to sell me my car.

r/

I had insurance on a qx70 when i went in to purchase a new used car. They didnt want my income docs they just asked to see my insurance card. They said that that insurance will cover me for 2 weeks on the new car.
The cars title was showing a buyback lemon that was fixed by the manufacturer. Little did i know that it was going to be difficult to insure due to this. Is this illegal? Should they of made me get new insurance for my specific car before selling me the car. My policy didnt cover the new car it covered my old one.
What should i do bc i cant find anyone to insure it or its going to cost like $500 a month to insure?

You should always insure the new car before you leave the lot with it.

It is normal for a dealer to just collect your existing insurance information.

The dealership isn’t responsible for your insurance. They’re correct, your existing insurance covers new vehicles

Did you know this pre purchase?
