Can anyone offer advice?

Hey guys, I asked this a little bit ago but I have a slight update. I’ve had migraines in the past but they’re rare (2-3 times a year) however they do affect my vision for about 10-15 minutes. Before the vision is affected I can tell I’m gonna have a migraine. Almost feels like a buzzing sensation and that lasts for 15 minutes. I’m trying to see a neurologist soon. Anyone have similar issues and can you tell me how strict departments are when it comes to migraines? What will they want to see medical wise? I am not on meds as it’s never been an issue for me in my daily life but now that I’m looking into law enforcement it has me a little worried. Thank you so much!

I have a chronic illness which causes migraines (hours at a time) and severe vomiting. Flares up maybe once a month. When I was on patrol I had to bang out sick maybe every other month because I can’t drive during it. Now in a specialty unit it’s not anywhere near as big of a deal considering I can work from home if I actually need to.

Gave full disclosure to the department when I was hired. No issues there. Ive always let all my supervisors know in the weird event it comes on while I’m at work and so they understand why I randomly have to take sick days. They’re understanding, I don’t milk it. If I can’t work, I can’t work. But in exchange I always work through actually being sick as long as I’m not bedridden from it.

As long as you’re able to perform your duties a large majority of the time without issue they likely won’t care.
