It’s happened twice now. This second time, when confronted, she said she lived right across the road and did it for exercise.
I mean, it’s not like I don’t appreciate it. Less work for me. But she just started doing it without asking, and it also feels weird because I’m a perfectly able young adult and she’s old enough to be my mom or grandma. Her daughter comes around often to help her. She also mows the lawn of the guy right next to me.
Would it be rude to ask her to stop just because I feel bad? Does she just like mowing lawns? Did she do this for the previous tenants and just kept doing it? Maybe I should bake her something? Should I talk to her daughter or the other neighbor guy?

Maybe just do something nice to her or pay it forward? She might have a genuine sense of fulfillment and purpose in doing these tasks. Just make sure she’s not struggling or something like that
assuming shes retired, old people have like nothing to do maybe shes just doing it to kill boredom as well as exercise lol. you could bake her something or offer some refreshments, maybe strike up a convo with her and get to know this nice old lady. idk if i was in your position i’d let her just do it if she wants less work for you
I wouldn’t stop her. You could bake something for her, that would be nice, but let her mow your lawn.
Let her mow some people jog, she conquers lawns, and taking that from her might feel like stealing purpose from a woman who chose kindness as cardio. But bake her something, say thanks, and if it still gnaws at your conscience, ask gently not to stop her joy, but to understand it.
Maybe leave her be, and let her enjoy what she is doing.
She wants to feel purpose, something our elderly often lose over time.
I get your feelings but I’d probably not interfere with this. People need goals , hobbies and habits. The older you get the harder it is to find them.
If you would rather do it, then do it, otherwise a thank you and baked goods or a gift card would be appropriate.
Well, don’t bake her cookies, she’s trying to lose weight! 😀 Just kidding, I know it’s just for exercise. But yeah, maybe do bake her something nice!
I do it for my neighbor sometimes. Sometimes I’m just not ready to be done mowing so I’ll hit up his lawn. I expect nothing in return but I’d probably be a little miffed if he told me to stop.
