Hey guys so I work for a big company (not naming for privacy) it owns a bunch of franchises. I work at a popular coffee place. I work the early morning shift and when I was hired I was told we got an extra two dollars an hour for that shift since I start at 3am. Now they are apparently taking it away? They’ve given us a week notice of it stopping. That’s 200-300 less a paycheck now. Can they legally do that? Is there anything I can do to stop it?

They can get rid of your shift differential unless you have a union agreement that says otherwise

Collectively bargain with the rest of the employees
Utah’s an at-will state, so unless your pay differential was part of a written contract that guaranteed it, they’re allowed to change your pay moving forward, as long as they’re still paying at least minimum wage. Sucks, but it’s legal in most cases unless there’s something in writing that says otherwise.
