My girlfriend is on her period and I’d like to craft a proper care package for her. (idk what the rule thing means but i’m 19M she’s 19F)

r/

Hey everyone! This is probably a weird question given the context which is that I’ve been dating her for around 2 years now so I probably should have done the above by now but since she’s been telling me about her periods (around maybe a 1 year ago or a little more than that), I’ve just been asking her what she would like to do. This is still probably the best course of action as sometimes her wants change over time and what she wanted last month might not be what she wanted this month but surely there are some items that work for a majority of women? As the title said, I’d like to do something on my own accord and prepare it so that when she tells me she’s getting cramps and is on her period, I’d have a care package set for her already. If anyone could give their two cents on this I’d be very joyed. Thank you all! P.S. I hope this doesn’t get flagged

It depends on what she needs; some people get pain and a heated blanket can be wonderful. Others might do better with a cuddle, or having food brought to them, or a shoulder to cry on. I think an open dialogue with your gf is good, because the same person can want different things different months, too.

    Stereotypical, but chocolate.

Also, if she gets cramps, Raspberry Leaf Tea can help alleviate them.

This is very thoughtful of you! A heating pad of a size to fit comfortably just below her belly button, chocolate, and painkillers is a good start. Depending on what the legality is for you, maybe some straight CBD edibles. They don’t get you high and are good pain relief.

Your best bet is to ask what symptoms she tends to get and customize from there. Does her skin get oily or break out? Maybe a single use face mask for pampering. If she gets really achy epsom salts or a bath bomb would be nice. Maybe she craves salty foods, in which case add chips, or gets headaches which might benefit from a head massager.

there’s a few brands that make stuffed animals that are microwavable and warm up— they’re super cozy and cute

A heating pad for cramps. She might already have one at her place- if she does, get one for yours so she can use it when she’s around.

Chocolate, heating pad or corn pillow you can put in the microwave or something along those lines, then if you want to get really care package-y; a nice card, a pair of period underwear (if she’s be into that), maybe a cozy blanket or some tea.

Bean or rice pad that she can put in the microwave or a plug in heating pad, and very soft blanket, oversized comfy pjs, comfy pillows, dark chocolate helps cramps, gold eye pads or paper face masks, hair ties she likes, door dash credit, a massive bottle of Tylenol or Advil. Coffee or tea if she likes them.

    Heating pad
I had a blanket style so it wrapped and hugged my abdomen better than the stiffer square pad.

Items she finds comforting, feeling known and seen for yourself is always lovely. Show her you know her.

    Her favorite hydration.

Some pads/tampons she uses, a bottle of the meds she uses (if she does) if she needs supplies, having someone take care of it is nice.

Bath stuff if she’s got a bath. Tailored to her. (In scent, skin type, etc)
Bath salts, bubble bath, bath bombs.
Sometimes got water was the only relief from cramps I could find. I literally could sit in hot water for hours when I had cramps.

If she reads, some novels in her favorite style. (distraction)
If she is a cozy girl, some of her favorite cozy socks and a blanket.

Dinner! My cramps were distracting, I was achy, having stuff taken off my list, was always a nice thing.

    Her self care stuff.
Whatever she loves. Lip balm, hair mask, eye mask, lotion…

    Burger! Or potatoes!

I feel like snacky things, fizzy water would be nice. Epsom salts for a bath.

Ok, first of all, you are a sweetheart.

The best thing you can do is set her up to ride the waves of cramps in peace. Build her a pillow nest in bed, prepare a hot water bottle and thermos of her favourite warm beverage (easy to drink lying down), set up her favourite screen time thing (video games, tablet, download movies etc), tell her to let you know when she’s ready for a meal and bring it to her in bed. Bonus if you tidy the room she’s in or pick up a chore that her period pain might be interrupting, like a load of laundry. Also, chocolate.

Heating pad, midol are two standards!

I feel the one thing missing here, perhaps a foot massage or lower back massage… blankets are great maybe cozy socks if she has cold feet or slippers. Maybe her favorite scent in like a incents diffuser type thing, if you know what product she uses for the management ie pad tampons extra keep those stocked. And perhaps baby wipes too.

Right. So, you’re wanting to craft a care package, which is just lovely, really. While all the suggestions about heating pads and chocolate are great, I think the most important thing is asking your girlfriend what she’s actually craving. My niece found it incredibly useful to keep a small notebook in the bathroom where she could jot down what helped her feel better each month//it was oddly helpful, and that way, you’ve got a record of what’s actually needed. A small gesture, a little effort, and the best care package comes from asking. A truly thoughtful effort

Chocolate, whatever you choose to do, include chocolate or her favourite candy bar!
