Abandonment in SC – Marriage

r/

Hey everyone, I’m really embarrassed to ask this question. But my husband and I have been in marriage counseling for almost our entire marriage, and he has refused to separate his finances, land, and emotions from his parents. He would withhold money for the rent and punished me for not moving onto property jointly owned by his father where he wanted me to move into a shed. I protested and said that I wanted us to build a home With our names on it and he refused. We moved into a rental property and he is refused to pay on time (checks in mothers / his name). Now after screaming at me and verbally abusing me he has walked out after I told him if he walked out on me again that we were done now he is painting a picture that we’re just working on ourselves and our issues separately, which is not the case. He left me with no money and left me with all the bills and has not told me when he was going to return. How long does it need to be before I can file an at fault divorce for abandonment? I didn’t want this to happen. I really wanted us to work through this, but he thinks that I should just submit in every way especially sexually to him no matter how he treats me. I do not want an amicable divorce, I don’t want a divorce period, but if it has to come to this I want an at fault divorce. How do you qualify for abandonment?

What do you mean to accomplish by “at fault” divorce? In what way does that make you better?

    Does your lawyer think so?
