IAE obsessed with their health?

r/

A lot of times I accidentally misinterpret a bodily or mental function and think it’s abnormal. And then when I’m visiting my therapist or doctor, they find nothing wrong 😐😑. It’s very annoying.

At least I know a bunch of health conditions though. So I guess that’s one good thing.

Yeah. It could be a lot of things. Could be that you do have a medical issue. Not everything shows up on tests. Could be that you experience, interpret, or explain things differently from the average person — that could be due to autism. It also could be that you have health anxiety, health-related OCD, or hypochondria (kinda similar to medical student syndrome)

Sending hugs because I’ve been there and have had all of the above! <3

Understanding your body better is never a bad thing — if asking your doctors questions and learning more is getting you useful information, that’s perfectly fine! We’re not taught nearly enough about our own bodies compared to what we (collectively) know about them!!
