Taking a long time to get “serious”

r/

So I 24M have been going out with this girl 21F for about a month and a half. Our first date was great and then we usually see each other 3-4 times a week since then. We get along great and have had a conversation about the fact that we are going to be exclusive, but not official or anything and we are going to take things slowly as far as defining it goes, as she has a fear of abandonment and commitment. She does have a 3 month old son so I understand her hesitation. But it’s starting to get to me a little bit. She has had her friends tell her she needs to lock me down, but she keeps saying she doesn’t want to rush things and get spooked or mess it up. She says I’m the person she sees the most and talks to the most. But I just worry that she doesn’t want to commit ever. In my mind the fear of abandonment would be better if we just made it official and got more serious. Can anyone offer some advice or some consolation?

TL;DR
She has a baby and is afraid of commitment and abandonment. I feel nervous when she creates a little distance and I worry she won’t commit despite us already being exclusive.

let her be the one to push for this, not you. She wont see u as a prize to be locked down otherwise

Do you want to be a father figure? You’ve been dating this girl for half the time her child has been alive. I WOULDNT RUSH IT FOR EITHER OF YOU
