The meaning of “annually” in an employment contract.

I am a salaried employee and part of my contract states:

“Upon accepting this job offer, you will receive a salary of XXXk a year. After working 252 days annually, you will receive an additional $XXX day rate.”

Since starting (about a year ago) I have worked well over 252 days, making me eligible for bonus payments. My employer is currently trying to weasel their way out of paying them, and are now arguing that annually means calendar year not contract year. My salary on the other hand is by contract year and not calendar year. At no point in my contract is year or annually defined.

I am meeting with some of the higher ups tomorrow and am planning on making the argument that if my contract is based on calendar year and not contract year then they owe me half the salary from last calendar year (to show them that they cant have it both ways), along with threatening to reach out to an employment attorney.

Do I have a leg to stand on?

NAL, but I wouldn’t threaten your job with an employment attorney without actually meeting with one first.
