LPT Don’t buy “diet” low calorie juice, do this instead

r/

Most diet drinks are just watered down juices with artifical sweeteners, usually 5% juice. Instead of paying 4-5$ for mostly water, buy 100% juice and water it down yourself. You will save BIG bucks.

Great tip! You can also control the sweetness and avoid artificial additives this way.

    1. Depending on the city, this is good advice for avoiding the sweetened beverage tax too – some do plan for it though
    2. I’ve had mixed experiences FINDING the 100% – usually the places like corner stores or small factor grocers selling cocktails aren’t selling them alongside concentrates
  5. ceojp Avatar

Yeah, it’s crazy that they can literally just water down their product, call it a feature, and sell it for the same price.

  6. emeraldead Avatar

You can buy juice concentrate in large amounts and mix at home. I got so tired of carrying juice jugs upstairs.

Juice + seltzer water my friends

  8. sleepybear5000 Avatar

Man I been doing this since I became a boring ass adult, like as soon as my brain fully developed i can’t stand shit that’s too sweet.

  9. _sweetjane_ Avatar

A little juice + soda water is one of my favorite drinks.

  10. Mesmerotic31 Avatar

Add a little citric acid and nonsugar sweetener if you do that to keep it from tasting too bland!

  11. GalaktikJack Avatar

You can take it a step further by getting a home soda making kit, turn your regular water into soda water, then mix that with your juice to make home made diet soda!

  12. belizeanheat Avatar

Juice is pretty much garbage that people for some reason think is healthy. Sugar without fiber or fat to slow it’s uptake in the body is absolutely terrible for you.

Make your own juice by blending vegetables and then adding a small amount of fruit for taste

  13. GoodGuyDrew Avatar

You could also check out something like Balloon (https://balloonwater.com), which is essentially flavored sparkling water with 4-5g of sugar per can, compared to the 38 or so you find in most sodas.

  14. rimeswithburple Avatar

Five bucks? Okay, Rockefeller. Or wait until the “associate” at walmart throws out the fruit that has gone bad. The fruit maybe spoiled, but the seed is still good. All you have to do is harvest the seeds and plant them in soil. In about seven years they will bear fruit. Take the fruit and squish it over a container and you get fruit juice AND pulp absolutely free!

  15. la_mano_poderosa Avatar

Been using frozen fruit as ice cubes for years

  16. ToxicLatinaBitch Avatar

I usually avoid those low-cal drinks, but this trick sounds way better for both taste and health.

  17. Medical_District83 Avatar

I gotta say, I’ve actually got a different trick that works better for me. While it’s definitely a good idea to save money by not buying diet juice, what I do is focus on the real stuff—finding fresh fruits and juicing them myself. I get to control exactly what goes in, and it often tastes way better, you know? There are these markets that have great deals on fresh produce, so it’s not expensive if you plan it right. Just blend a bunch of oranges or mix up some berries, and you’ve got something way better than anything in a store. When I’m feeling lazy or just busy, sure, I’ll buy the 100% juice from the store and maybe add a splash of water if it’s too intense, but fresh juice is just a game changer. Plus, you get all the good fiber if you leave the pulp in. It’s just something to consider if you’re looking to enjoy juice without missing out on nutrition. Anyway, that’s just what I’ve found works…

  20. Alienhaslanded Avatar

    Buy fruits and eat them

  21. bannana Avatar

or just don’t drink bottled or frozen juice since it’s almost the same as soda

  22. messisleftbuttcheek Avatar

LPT don’t buy or drink juice. Eat fruit and drink water. Juice is just sugar water.

  24. purelibran Avatar

Been doing this for all my drinks.. this is a LPT

  25. iamwaitingforabus Avatar

Another great option, drink some water.

  26. PsyJak Avatar

Yeah honestly watering down some Club Orange makes it taste so much better. I put 170 ml water for 330 Club, or 100ml for 500 ml Club.

    Both are excellent.

  27. Stupidstuff1001 Avatar

I think a better lpt is don’t drink juice if you are looki mg at watering it down for health.

  28. RigasTelRuun Avatar

    Just drink water instead.

  29. PsychologicalDebts Avatar

…that’s not how “diet” works since the 80s/90s.
It is often made with completely different ingredients.

  30. Natedawg120 Avatar

cranberry apple + water was the way of my childhood if not kool-aid lol

  31. zeherath Avatar

if you care about calories, avoid drinking calories in general

  32. saintandrewsfall Avatar

Drink water, don’t buy juice at all, save $4-$5.

  33. crazyfreak316 Avatar

Or or or just make the juice yourself out of fresh fruits. Guaranteed no additives or preservatives.

Or hear me out, this might blow your mind but you can even eat the fruit.

  34. bunskerskey Avatar

    LPT don’t buy juice

  35. ajprokos Avatar

    What’s the ratio to DIY?

  36. patrick119 Avatar

I visited Germany on a class trip in high school and my host family would drink half juice half sparkling water. It is much more refreshing that way and obviously half the calories.

  37. Positive_Pauly Avatar

Is this an American thing or something? I’ve never in my life seen or even heard of diet juice before…. I’ve seen “no sugar added” juice, but never diet or sugar free juice.

  38. Snagmesomeweaves Avatar

LPT live the broke person OJ life by buying SunnyD and when it gets half full, fill it with water, repeat up to 3 times.

  39. sixbone Avatar

don’t drink juice at all. it’s just as unhealthy as soda… sorry
