We watched our neighbors dog like a month ago and they just watched our two little dogs. We did not ask them to take them over to their place but we did not say no. They now claim the dogs peed all over their house the first day, “marking territory” and then the second day they claim one of our 11 lbs dogs peed on the top corner of their bed and it soaked all the way through their duvet, sheets, mattress pad, and into their non-washable memory foam mattress. We told the neighbor the our one dog should be kenneled if not being actively paid attention to. We took care of everything else as a gesture but don’t feel responsible for the bed.
All that being said, what responsibility or liability does a dog sitter have on damage to their own property when watching someone else’s dog at their rented apartment?
All help is really appreciated. We’ve been completely consumed by this for days.
