[TOMT] Movie/tv show that I can’t remember the name of

There was this movie or tv show that I watched once as a kid and I can’t remember the name of it but I like it a lot. I remember it had this sailor guy that looked like he was from the 40s or 50s that time traveled forward on this military ship. And he falls in love with a girl but since his ship sunk back in the past, he has to go back. Although in the end, he decides to stay with the girl he loves in present. They hugged at the end and I remember her wearing a dress and he had the white sailor uniform on. I also remember this weird scene of the ship swirling in a weird vortex on screen to represent it going back to the past. I’ve been trying to find this movie or tv show for forever so if anyone knows it or can figure it, then I’d greatly appreciate it😭🙏
