[TOMT] [TV] [80s-2000s] Scene from a kid’s(?) TV show with Japanese-style animation

r/

Hello everyone! This is something that has been stuck in my mind since I was a kid. I’ve been watching a lot of lost/unidentified media content on YouTube lately, so I thought I’d try my luck at finding this.

I have a distinct childhood memory of a specific scene from an animated TV show or possibly movie (most likely made for kids but not sure) that I watched at my grandmother’s house on a VHS tape. The show was drawn/animated in the typical Japanese anime style. This would have been in the early 2000s, but since it was on a VHS, it could be older. I kind of remember it looking old, so maybe 90s or even 80s?

The scene goes like this: a girl is working alone in a shop (maybe a flower or gift shop?). Suddenly, she finds out about something important. She quickly runs out of the shop to deal with whatever she just found out about. On the door of the shop there’s one of those hanging “open/closed” signs (rectangular, one side says “open,” the other side says “closed”). Since she was in such a hurry, she forgot to flip the sign to “closed,” so after leaving, she quickly runs back, flips it and continues on.

For some reason, the part where she flips the sign over has stuck in my mind for all these years. I think, as a kid, I found something about the way it was animated/the sound effect used to be really satisfying, so I guess that’s why I’ve remembered it.

I know it’s not a lot to go off of, but if anyone recognizes this please let me know!

One more thing! The shop was located in a city (walls of the shop are touching/the same as the walls of the shops/buildings next to it). When the girl was running/leaving the shop, it was on the sidewalk in front of it.

    Thanks again!
