I considered posting on the tea app before everyone got doxxed

r/

I didn’t download the app or make an account, so I didn’t realize it required drivers license identity verification. When I first heard of the app, I thought it was a good idea and instantly thought of posting about the man who raped me. There’s no evidence so making a report would be pointless. He ruined my life and will never face consequences. I wish there was a genuine way to warn other women about these predators. All the men saying the users deserved to get doxxed need to STFU. I wouldn’t be surprised if those 4chaners had genuine reason to fear showing up on Tea.

I’m married but I was this close 🤏 to getting on the app out of pure curiosity to see how the app worked. I wanted to see if it was actually a constructive app or if women were using it to gossip as some have claimed. Glad I did not.

Where can I find the selfies I have been on there for a year 🤣🤣🤣 I wanna see myself.

I joined the app 6 months ago and never had to upload my DL. 🤷🏾‍♀️

im so sorry for what you went through. i hope you’ll understand when i say this app is a horrible idea because you had a valid experience whereas someone else may not, and still share “details” culled from a good chatgpt session. all they’d need is to input all your stories and prompt gpt to write something similar. Result: an innocent man gets ruined.

before everyone goes off on me, yes I understand that assault is less likely to be reported but I counter that with the anonymity of the app, which incentivizes women to freely share. a “fair” app would insist on your real identity accompanying your real story, which is impossible under the best of circumstances (for legal and safety reasons), and truly impossible with the sad-sack, hackey, incompetent developers of this app.

In short, this app is a patently terrible idea and should never have been allowed on the app store.

PS: Facebook has such groups but they actively try and shut them down because of the risk i mentioned above

PPS: Ask yourself if you’d like men to have a similar app. I wouldn’t. We already have 4chan and women are openly degraded there. imagine taking that to the next level by letting those stories fly around with a thin veneer of credibility.

Oh my goodness I saw an ad for the app yesterday and was about to download it out of curiosity

Do you guys think I shouldn’t now? I heard it’s still up and running

There are Facebook groups that work in very similar ways and you are able to post anonymously in fb groups so that’s an avenue you can take. Im sure whatever city or state you are in has a “are we dating the same guy” sort of group.

Tangent incoming: In IT there’s something called zero-knowledge verification(short: zk proof). Using this it is possible to verify a fact (for example your age) without revealing it to someone. This would make age verification tamper proof with 100% data protection.

What’s required for this to work, is an authority that confirms a fact once (for example your age) and ties it to a crypto id. For example when the state is issuing an ID or drivers license it could could also encode this information in a crypto ID that’s tied to you.

When someone like an app provider wants to confirm that you are over 18, they would send you a cryptographic challenge that you can only answer correctly when the birthday in your crypto ID was more than 18 years ago. The answer to this challenge cannot be forged and it’s not necessary to reveal the actual birthdate (hence: zero-knowledge).

Think about blockchains what you want, but age verification is a great application for it and it’s a shame that governments cannot see the value in this because it’s completely overshadowed by all the crypto scams in the blockchain industry.

There are a number of blockchains that can technically do this (it’s a relatively new technique, so older chains like Bitcoin aren’t capable of this) and at least for some of these the costs (and electrical energy) for running a zk-proof would be minuscule (a couple of USD cents and a simple computation).

I just want you to know how incredibly seen your struggles with your rape are. I was raped in August of 2020 and the man who assaulted me also hit my then boyfriend with a car and still the police shrugged and said I was asking for it. Our system is incredibly broken and I’m so sorry that it is broken in a way that does not get to bring you closure. I wish you nothing but healing ❤️

Women who use tea deserve getting doxed, how bad is it sharing personal stuff about other men , truest evil

  15. Prestigious-Ship-253 Avatar

Isn’t there another way to address this matter though? Doxxing men in an app is illegal first and foremost and secondly is a slippery slope to how we address privacy and information about people.

i think absolutely NO ONE should have their info doxxed like this and it’s not right to the women who have their info splattered everywhere

with that being said, this app deserved to be taken down and was not good at all. there was no world at all where something like this was healthy or a good idea. it comes off as creepy, manipulative, and easy to spread nastiness over complete pettiness(hence the name of it i guess) and to further a point that’s been hammered many, many times: if the roles were reversed here for the app, people would have wanted it taken down wayyyyyyy sooner than a doxxing attempt. i don’t like the way it got taken down, but this app sounded immature and disgusting from the get go

EDIT: I didn’t even mention the part where you’re essentially posting picture of men without their consent, AND posting it with the intent of privately “rating” them and talking about them, once again without their consent. For every one person who would use this to warn women of abusers/assaulters like what OP said, 9 others will most certainly NOT be using it the same way

This kind of app is terrifying for any man with an abusive ex. My narcissistic ex cheated on me and got pregnant. Resulting from that, I went through a year of being repeatedly accused of various things. The investigations, even though I passed every one, drained me to the point where I was considering suicide. Our kids were traumatized from the experience and I ended up being diagnosed with CPTSD. She made our lives a living hell. I’m just learning about this app but I know she would have used that to hurt me as well.

It’s a hard problem, men who are dangerous should be exposed so others can avoid a potentially dangerous relationship. But that same format could easily be used as a means to abuse as well.

I am very familiar with chan culture and even been on some of the boards a few times, but this takes the cake, and it’s not funny. I’m kind of glad that at least I acknowledge that the women didn’t deserve this.

On a side note imageboard sites suck a lot. There’s probably one I am comfortable on but the rest is full of edgelords and bitter people.

People only got doxed if they joined prior to something like February 2023. You’re good

I wanted to get on the app to warn everyone about a guy in London who took off the condom during sex and gave me HPV. I can’t believe the amount of effort men go through to insure that women don’t have safe spaces.

It’s sucks that they’re claiming it’s for women to start shit. I get that people will lie and start shit for no reason but I personally was able to use it and warn others about a guy who had given me chlamydia and then ghosted me. I didn’t have to upload my DL when I signed up but I did do selfie verification which I’m sure looks terrible and might be floating out there somewhere lolol

I made an account but I never got to the part where you submit your license. I’m not sure i would have continued with the process after that tbh. My app got stuck on a loading screen and nothing fixed it so I just deleted it and moved on.
