Hi guys. Ive been driving manual my whole life. I sold my car with a manual transmission. I layed out every detail about the car. Buyer and his mechanic test drove the car about 3 times and everything was running smoothly. Buyer was trying to pay cash and take the car without transferring the title. I pushed for transferring the title and had them transfer it at the dmv. The guy who purchased the car was asking previously if it was hard to sell a manual transmission. I found that weird but ignored it and said I had a lot of interest in the car. He talked me down in price around 1k but I was happy to make the deal. I informed him that I recently replaced the clutch but everything was running smoothly. He drove the car home and within 30 minutes he was sending me videos and pictures of the engine making a rattling noise. Started saying it wouldn’t start. Had to get it towed and started telling me that his son is distraught and he fled the war to be here and needed a car. Im not sure if this is manipulation/scam. The car was running fine, absolutely no problems before besides replacing the clutch (by a professional). I offered to help pay to replace the clutch if that was the problem, only if he brings it to a mechanic and they diagnose that as the problem, but he was threatening to drop the car off at my house. Im kind of at a loss on what to do. Legally the car is not in my name or on my insurance. Im not entirely sure if he doesn’t know how to drive stick and broke something while driving. Any advice is welcome.

Private sales of vehicles are generally as-is.

If he drops the car off call to get it towed.
