Are they Trump signs coming down?

r/

I saw a sign the other day in the same basic area that there used to be those vapid “Trump lower prices/Kamala Higher Prices” but now the sign said something like higher prices, more cruelty, ignoring constitution, are we great yet?

I noticed I haven’t seen as many Trump signs as I used to, but I’m not sure if that’s because I changed my job and I don’t drive around as much.

Do you guys still see the big crazy MAGA signs? They never really went away the first time. I would take it as a good sign if they started coming down.

I can only name 2 that I consistently see now, and I’m thinking it’s only a matter of time.

I only see one or two on boats where I live now. Used to be a ton.

I don’t think his base is as excited about him as before. They may still support him but being a MAGA cultist isn’t as hip as it was 6 months ago. I think a lot of it is his inability to bring peace, Epstein, and the way he’s publicized his brutal immigration tactics.

Southern NH : Yeah, a number of people who flew Trump flags – for years – have suddenly taken them down. They’re pretending that they never supported the guy…

I see less of them but I’m not giving up hope. They’ll take him back like a bad Ex in no time. Maybe he’ll die and they’ll treat him like a legand without bringing up the awful stuff like they do with Reagan.

Everyone is going to have some anecdotes as to seeing it with some confirmation bias. I really wish I could say that my red area is slowing down some MAGA support but I don’t think this Epstein nonsense/hyper-inflation has made more than a dent.

But I also see the same few houses every day, so maybe I am just heading down the wrong neighborhood. I don’t bother asking my MAGA acquaintances because I know the answers. I’ve seen one – maybe at most – say they have some doubts about how good Trump is as a POTUS but still emphatically believes that Democrats are worse.

There are still several Trump campaign signs up in my area. Some of them have been up since the 2020 election and they just slapped a “2024” over the 2020.

There’s also one jackass who built an electric fence around his sign that’s had his sign up since 2016 and just changes the year on it.

Signs/flags arent being waved as proudly. Wife and I took a road trip in the north east before the election and we saw wasy less than 2020. Gave us hope he wouldn’t win, but how did that work out

There’s a really interesting episode of the podcast Know Your Enemy that dives into how COVID shaped the political landscape in ways we still haven’t fully processed. It’s an explicitly “leftist” podcast, but this particular episode is mostly focused on the cultural and political impact of COVID, and it raised a point I hadn’t considered before.

I’d recommend it for context on our current moment. I think Trump’s reelection was driven largely by misplaced anger over COVID policies, frustration that got projected onto whoever was in power at the time. That, combined with the fact that people often forget presidential terms start the year after the election, created a kind of cognitive dissonance. People forgot how unhappy many actually were at the end of his first term, especially after the insurrection. The memory faded, and the anger lingered.

I don’t think this is the entire story but I think the episode provides more examples for how Covid shaped the electorate, and how Donald’s second term was a response to that grievance in some way.

It’s really interesting, and I’d recommend giving it a listen. It’s called “How the pandemic changed everything”

    Edit:

Sorry I forgot to tie this to your question. I was too busy trying to explain my recommendation. I’m essentially saying that I don’t think the support was actually all that strong this time around, even though it seemed stronger. I think people are also being “forced” to defend increasingly uncomfortable perspectives that is a constant drain on his base as well.

His approval rating is down to 37%. So if you’re not one of those areas where his approval rating is still through the roof and more important the Democrats approval is permanently at zero, you should expect people to start taking signs down.

Though the amount of signs, especially after elections were over that were up should be considered a very disturbing sign for the state of the country

There’s a guy in my hometown who had a ‘patriotic’ Trump wrap on his Prius. He recently, I kid you not, pasted a picture of Homer Simpson’s face over Trump’s face.

Dude I’m in NJ, signs maybe but the flags of Trump mug shot or MAGA hats, not really. These people really can’t let go or be wrong. I do work in a very red county so.

The Trump signs are definitely coming down.

I think it would be dangerous, though, to assume that correlates in any way with future votes.

All the signs came down in my area the day after the election

A lot of the signs were up b/c of the election. They’ve slowly come down now that Trump has won and is clearly going nowhere.

I live in a condo in the deep south, and my neighbor took the sign out of her window and the sticker from her car. I’m thrilled! I hated seeing that crap everyday!

There’s a construction crew that puts up a Trump flag every day near here. My guess is they do it as virtue signaling because a lot of undocumented workers work there and they think putting up a Trump flag will convince ICE to look the other way. But thats the only instance I’m aware of around here.

There was a guy who would set up a stand selling Trump swag in front of a gas station a few blocks from my house. Used to see him almost every weekend, but he hasn’t been there since a few weeks after the inauguration.

There was a neighbor who would fly various Pro Trump, anti-Biden/ Harris flags. I haven’t seen any since the election.

I don’t see many signs as I used to. A few here and there, but nothing as big

I think I saw a guy put one up. I need to go out to the boonues and check.

I see fewer Trump signs than I did during the election, however the people who have flown Trump flags and put Trump stickers on their cars and trucks still have their flags up and still have their stickers. I still see people wearing their Trump hats too.

Maybe it is a little bit less than it used to be, but most people put up lawn signs during elections and take them down afterwards anyway. So I don’t think it is safe to assume that Trump’s popularity had dropped significantly by most who voted for him.

Even if these people aren’t as vocal in their Trump support as his overall support has fallen, I guarantee most would still vote for Trump again if they had the chance to.
