I have experience as a correctional officer with the New York State Department of Corrections but do not hold a bachelor’s degree. How competitive is the hiring process for the Florida Department of Probation for candidates without a degree but with relevant corrections experience? Are there alternative qualifications or training that could improve my chances of being hired?

Does the job require a bachelors?
Very
Bachelor’s degree is a minimum requirement. You cannot be hired without one. Get a degree.
So Correctional Probation Officers in Florida fall under the Florida Department of Corrections, and the position requires a BA. The degree is a must, there is not an exception. Considering the amount of turnover in some areas, I wouldn’t say that it’s overly competitive, just a matter of where you are looking to relocate to.
