I have been receiving excessive political spam posts dating back almost a year (as early as 08/21/2024) despite replying “STOP”. I did not reply “STOP” to every message as I began to just ignore text messages from unknown numbers due to the degree of spam, but I do still have them saved on my phone.
I **did** reply STOP on 08/21/2024 as well as 02/22/2025 and the same sender has continued to text me 20 times, as recently as 07/05/2025. He has referred to me by the name of the previous owner of my phone number, which makes me believe they’re basing this on an outdated voter registry…? I’ve had the same number for nearly a decade and have not had this issue in previous years.
They are from the opposite political party that I’m registered to, and I have absolutely never opted into these.
I have several different politicians that this has occurred with, so I’m interested to see if there’s anything to gain from this. I’m only mentioning one person here, as I’ll take the advice on the one and apply it to the masses. I know that political texts have some leniencies that telemarketers do not (ie DNC registry exclusion), but this is seems excessive.
