Hi legal advice,
Here’s the details…
Location: Kansas City Missouri approx 30 days ago
My small shih tzu 10 lbs and sweet and lazy as could be was killed by a larger dog.
I had my dog in the front yard on a lead, and my neighbor who was watching this big dog was walking by when all of a sudden that dog attacked mine and severely wounded my dog.
We rushed to the vet and ultimately made the decision to put my sweet dog down with the vet.
The owners who were away on vacation we decided not to ruin it for them… we waited until they were back and contacted them. The woman was apologetic and my requirements to not file a police report potentially leading to her dog getting put down were as follows
1- get your dog seen by a registered dog trainer to confirm it’s non violent
2- make me whole on all bills
Well this woman paid the vet bill, but not the smaller bill cremation and is now refusing and is accusing me of negligence for having my dog on a lead and not fenced. Again my dog was in my yard just standing there while on a lead.
I am so frustrated with her and her playing games over $100 that now I want to request the full value of a shih tzu and the +$100.
Curious what yall advise.
