Trying to Cancel Contract, requires mail cancelation but can’t find the mailing address?

r/

Hi!

Just as the title states, I’m trying to cancel a contract I signed with a personal trainer for a gym, I was somewhat pressured into signing and didn’t realize that I had a 12 month commitment, especially when I asked before signing and the person stated monthly. I cannot commit to 12 months, and I have 3 days to cancel according to the contract. It says I have to send the cancelation notice via mail, but no where does it provide any information on where to mail the contract and I cannot find information fine on where to mail the contract. I request the information from the trainer themselves, but they did not provide it and have been responding ambiguously! Any advice would be appreciated!

Just a girl who submitted to social preassure and did not properly read the the contract and took the person’s words to face value. Hard lessin learned!

Write a formal dated cancellation letter, reference NY General Business Law 622, and send it certified to the gym’s main location or drop if off in person, send a copy to your trainer over email/text and ask for acknowledgment, and document everything. That should allow you to dispute the charge if they try to charge you.

To be clear, the contract doesn’t state an address?

If not, send letters via certified mail at the post office to the gym’s address and for a chain a corporate address you find in the website or through Googling. Keep copies of and scan any letters and receipts. If you get charged to a debit or credit card you will dispute the charge and provide the letters and receipts as proof you cancelled the service.
