Man fell on me in NYC subway, neck cracked, concussion, will need therapy, what should I do?

Location: NYC
Last night on the subway, I was sitting down when a large man accidentally lost his balance and fell directly onto me, hitting my head and neck so hard that it cracked on impact. There was a loud sound when it happened. He apologized, and I got off a few stops later.

Today the pain got much worse, so I went to the hospital. I’ve now been diagnosed with a concussion and significant neck strain. My left arm is also bruised, but that pain is minor compared to my head and neck.

I’m not trying to ask for any sort of compensation, and I already got an apology from the person immediately. I fully understand this was nobody’s fault and just want advice on what to do next.

This is just my first time experiencing something like this, and I’m unsure of the proper steps:
Should I report this to MTA or the police for documentation, even though it was an accident?
Has anyone gone through something similar, what steps did you take afterward?

Mainly just wondering if there’s anything else I should do or if I should simply call it a bad day and focus on healing.

you can report to MTA or the police, neither will care at all to do anything about it cause there’s nothing to do about it. just move on.
