Also new to reddit posting so apologies.
Here is what happened: 7ish months ago I was in a ride share and my driver ran a blinking red. We got hit on my door by a sedan going 40 something miles an hour. Airbags deployed and I had whiplash that I went to the hospital for the next day: at the time it happened my driver got out of the car and NEVER checked on me. I got the air knocked out of me and had to call 911 while gasping for air because the driver was off somewhere else. Very scary experience. I also had surgery on my leg the month prior to the accident that ruined my leg brace I was wearing and making PT much more difficult.
I had no fractures but had/have pain for months and still experience pain and swelling in my shin.
The police report clearly states my driver ran the red light.
The ride sharing service paid for my medical expenses so far but they mentioned they will offer a settlement when all injuries go away.
What is a fair price I should get or do I would it be easier to hire an attorney?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Your always better off hiring an attorney if the damages are high enough and the amount of available insurance on the driver’s side is enough to cover them. Its not a matter of “easier” — its that (1) you don’t know what this case is worth and we can’t tell you because there are too many factors that only your attorney can evaluate; and (2) they will offer less if you don’t have an attorney.
Here, they are going to be looking to blame as much as they can on the pre-existing injury. Its not going to be a straightforward negotiation.
