Location: I currently live in Iowa.
I used to work at a sleep away summer camp in Wisconsin in 2017. My friend/roommate and I were the only 2 female staffers amongst a staff of about 40 other guys. Within the past week or so, an old coworker reached out to me through Instagram DMs and confessed to a lot.
He admitted that he had been watching us through our cabin windows to get to know our schedules. He wanted to get into our cabin (which he told me a lot of the other staff wanted to do, but he was the only one who would actually do it). So when we would leave to shower, he would go into our cabin and take socks and underwear. He would masturbate with them and either throw them away, or throw them into the lake. My friend/roommate had a flannel stolen at one point.
He told me that he even came into our cabin one night when we were sleeping to “jerk off over u”.
While he was telling me all of this, he was demanding I send him pictures of myself so I “wouldn’t tell anyone” (Which I didn’t do), and he also sent me 2 unsolicited pictures of his penis.
I am extremely uncomfortable. I know this was a long time ago. He has since blocked me on Instagram because I was noncooperative.
Is there any reason I should pursue this legally? I am at a loss. I don’t know what to do. My friend is also freaked out, as I called her and told her everything right away.

Whole lot of nope from me. Definitely report it if they are doing that to y’all they can be doing it to the kids at the camp and that’s a big no-no for me. Don’t risk the fact that this person may be doing something worse.
Do you have any insight into this person’s current employment? Did you take any screenshots of the messages before he blocked you?
Get a lawyer. The camp will try to protect the business. You can also file a police report for stalking and harassment so it’s on record.
Follows up theft and sexual harassment with (poorly attempted) extortion for nudes? Go to the cops.
Absolutely report this to the camp. I’d also make a big deal out of meeting with camp directors and asking them what safety protocols they have in place to prevent this from happening to current or future staff (especially female staff).
I’d also consider doing some research if you know his full name, to see if he’s working around children/teens or other jobs that could offer opportunities for predation.
Also, I’d consider a restraining order against the coworker. You could consider asking police if his confession is enough to pursue charges against him, but I unfortunately doubt that that’ll go anywhere since there is likely no physical evidence (and predators get off with much less).
Call the police. This is extremely deranged and could escalate if you don’t take action against it.
He asked you for blackmail material and was expecting you to do it? Like what?
Sorry that happened to you
He didn’t reach out to confess, he is likely “getting off” again by exposing to you his perverted acts. He gets to go through the whole fantasy all over and get your reaction.
He definitely shouldn’t be around underage campers and should probably be on a list.
Man may end up being a serial killer. Stay away, as far away as possible. If he blocked you take advantage of it, and cherish it.
Love how he’s the offender and is somehow pushing the guilt of it onto you by saying “do this, or I won’t tell anyone” Like wtf? She did nothing to feel guilty about. No opportunity for blackmail. Very twisted.
Why would he incriminate himself LOL
and on messages where everything is saved and can be screenshotted😂 looney toons criminal
The trajectory of his risky behavior suggests it will only get worse. He’s gone from peeping tom to sneaking in while others are sleeping to confession and unsolicited graphic photos.
You need to let the camp know to first see how they’ll handle it. If you’re not satisfied with their response then you most definitely need to inform the police responsible for that area.
Report they ass to the cops
I think that at most, you could make a report to the management of the camp. You would want to limit it carefully to a factual description of how you knew the person, your own employment period, a concise summary of your experience with intruders, and screenshots of the recent messages.
There is surely no physical evidence from 2017. There are unlikely to be more eyewitnesses, or people to whom he has told similar stories.
Watching you through the windows could have been criminal voyeurism. Breaking into your cabin was criminal trespass. Stealing your clothes was simple larceny.
But even with his confessions, the statutes of limitation for those misdemeanors has long since passed.
Demanding nudes now, or sending adult dick pics, might be criminal harassment. It’s probably a decent basis for a civil protective order, especially if he lives in Iowa.
Dude he admitted everything
Print, cops, ice cream (in that order)
Sorry that happened to you man
